down here at the shop it’s getting lonely
the holidays are gone
it’s just the cats and me
over the road the woman reminds me
that i sell antiques
she wouldn’t take to me
i’m down at the storefront every morning
rearranging chairs on a sinking ship
she could drive by though and throw her smile to me
and i’d get choked up
a smile is all i need
born into it, but it’s no place for me
i couldn’t count the days b/c i’m afraid i’d die
i close up shop when they all get close to me
and turn around the sign
another year gone by
